Area 1/S Referee Administrator, offers his thoughts on the importance of understanding and knowing how to defuse and control, if not eliminate, the problems that come with more competitive matches. As competition increases, players acquire improved skills and a stronger attitude toward winning, Referees must be prepared for the increased emotions and control problems. Referees that are unprepared contribute to problems to a greater extent than anyone would expect. This can be remedied by proper continuous education.
